Newport Biodiesel’s mission is to recycle New England’s used cooking oil into clean-burning fuel. By doing so, our region will benefit not only environmentally, but also economically. Every gallon we make is one less gallon of imported petroleum that will make its way to our shores. Newport Biodiesel had humble beginnings in a basement in 2006. Growing pains forced us to relocate, first to the Norman Bird Sanctuary, and then to our current home on Connell Highway. We were incorporated in 2012, welcoming shareholders, new employees, new technology, and new sources of funding. From a few guys in a basement experimenting with alternative fuel, to an 8 million gallon per year facility, our company’s success is the result of the hard work and dedication of the people involved.
